Description
Premium European nylon tippet material engineered for extreme knot strength, suppleness, and natural fly drift.
0.26 mm (1X): Heavy-duty monofilament tippet for large predators, night fishing, and strong saltwater conditions.
-
Superior Knot Strength: Holds high breaking strains (up to 98%) even with complex tippet-to-leader or terminal fly knots.
-
Controlled Elasticity: Built-in ~30% shock absorption dampens sudden strikes and protects delicate tippet diameters.
-
High Flexibility & Suppleness: Allows dry flies, midges, and nymphs to drift naturally without stiff water resistance.
-
Low Visibility Clear Finish: Crystal-clear monofilament profile stays discrete underwater to avoid spooking sharp-eyed fish.
-
Includes Tippet Tender: Comes equipped with a custom J:son elastic spool tender to keep line secure, organized, and tangle-free.
Tippet material is the crucial connection between your tapered leader and your fly. As you change flies throughout the day, your leader continuously gets shorter; tying on 50–100 cm of J:son Ultimate Tippet extends your leader's lifespan while maintaining a seamless taper and optimal drift. Manufactured in Europe from high-grade nylon, it provides the perfect balance of suppleness and reliability when trophy fish strike hard.
Which diameter should you choose?
| Dimension (mm) | Approx breaking strength | Suggested Fly Sizes & Application |

| 0.145 mm (6X) | ~1.8 kg / 4.0 lbs | Small dry flies & micro nymphs (#16–#22), calm water, trout & grayling |
| 0.165 mm (5X) | ~2.5 kg / 5.5 lbs | Standard dry fly & nymph tippet (#14–#18), all-round river fishing |
| 0.185 mm (4X) | ~3.2 kg / 7.0 lbs | Medium/large dry flies, heavy nymphs (#10–#14), rainbow trout & brown trout |
| 0.205 mm (3X) | ~4.2 kg / 9.2 lbs | Streamers, Mayflies, light seatrout, heavy river nymphing |
