Description

Streaking Caddis in a natural or light brown color. This is a highly effective dry fly pattern designed to imitate a mature caddisfly. The fly's unique, messy profile and sparse wings are meant to be pulled or "skittered" across the surface of the water. This erratic movement perfectly mimics a natural caddis that is fluttering to lay eggs or has been disturbed, a behavior that often triggers an aggressive strike from fish.

Type of Fly: Dry Fly. This pattern is meant to be fished on the water's surface to imitate a living, adult insect.

Target Fish: The Streaking Caddis is an excellent fly for all species of trout (especially brown and rainbow trout) and grayling, as these fish are well-known for their aggressive feeding on caddisflies.

When to Fish: This fly is most effective from late spring through autumn during a caddisfly hatch. The prime time to use it is in the evening when caddisflies become most active.

Saltwater or Freshwater: This is a freshwater fly.

Best Fishing Locations: The Streaking Caddis is best fished in rivers and streams, especially in faster-moving water like riffles and runs, where caddisflies thrive. It can also be very effective in still waters like lakes, particularly near the shore or in areas with aquatic vegetation where caddisflies are found.
