J:son Barbless Tungsten Mayfly Nymphs

Reach the Strike Zone: Depth and Realism To catch fish when they aren't rising, you must go to them. Mayfly nymphs spend almost their entire lives clinging to or burrowing into the riverbed. The J:son Barbless Tungsten Series is designed to get your fly down to the "strike zone" quickly and stay there, while maintaining the flawless anatomical silhouette J:son is known for.

Heavy Tungsten, Ethical Hooks By using high-density tungsten, we’ve created a nymph that cuts through the current without the need for bulky extra weight. Paired with a premium barbless hook, this series offers:

• Faster Sink Rate: Reaches the bottom faster in deep pools or heavy riffles.

• Superior Hook-ups: The thinner wire of the barbless hook, combined with the weight of the tungsten, ensures instant and deep penetration.

• Easy Release: Optimized for Catch & Release, minimizing handling time and damage to the fish.

Anatomically Correct for Every Environment:

• Digging Nymphs (Weighted for Depth): Perfect for reaching the sandy bottoms of deep lakes or slow-moving river sections where large species like the Green Drake reside.

• Swimming Nymphs (Active Presentation): Designed to be fished with a pulsing retrieve in the water column or near the bottom, imitating active swimmers like the Claret Dun.

• Clinging Nymphs (Streamlined Power): The tungsten weight is crucial here. It keeps these flat-bodied "bodybuilders" (like the Yellow May Dun) pinned to the rocks in the fastest, roughest currents where trout wait for a meal to drift by.

Tactical Advice: When there is no visible hatch, the fish are looking down. Fish these tungsten nymphs dead-drift along the bottom or with slight twitches to mimic an insect losing its grip on a rock.
